No cabe duda que en más de alguna ocasión nos hemos preguntado si necesitamos una endodoncia?
Inicio explicando las partes del diente que se pueden ver afectadas en estos casos.
Un diente esta formado por diferentes capas, si empezamos describiendolas desde fuera hacia dentro, la primera capa es el esmalte dental, el cual es el tejido más duro de nuestro cuerpo ( incluso más duro qué los huesos). Sin embargo esta dureza puede traducirse a la vez en fragilidad, ya que se vuelve más quebradizo, es una capa sumamente rigida, qué puede doblegarse ante la constante irritación de los ácidos creados por bacterias, las cuales pueden crear una fisura en el esmalte con la constante penetracionde bacterias.
Más adentro encontramos la capa llamada Dentina, la cual es más permeable y susceptible al ataque de bacterias, quiere decir que una vez una caries penetra el esmalte, avanza mucho más rápido si no es tratada a tiempo.
Bajo la Dentina tenemos la Pulpa dental ( nervio) la cual es la parte sensitiva del diente, es la capa qué le da vitalidad a cada pieza dental, cuando una caries llega a esta zona, es muy fácil que sea contaminada, con la posterior hinchazón y dolores sumamente fuertes.
La mayor parte de las personas sufren dolores durante horas nocturnas, debido a que cuando dormimos, la presión arterial aumenta en nuestra cabeza y afecta igualmente a la Pulpa dental.
Además de una caries un porcentaje bastante alto de afección de la Pulpa se puede deber a fracturas dentales qué llegan profundamente a esta capa.
En un porcentaje menor pueden sentirse dolores cuando la pieza afectada no tienen ningún contacto con las piezas contrarias.
Las piezas más afectada normalmente son las primeras molares inferiores, llegando a recibir un tratamiento de endodoncia a partir de los 6 años de edad, las que le siguen en su afección son las molares superiores,seguidas por las premolares, y los menos afectados los incisivos, sin embargo estos son los que más fracturas presentan en los estudios.
Siempre es muy importante el realizar un diagnóstico completo para determinar la integridad de cada capa del diente, y esto se realiza únicamente con radiografías, ya que no siempre se observan las caries en las superficies dentales, sino también entre cada pieza.
Una endodoncia puede ser evitada, si la irritaciones manejada a tiempo. Pueden iniciar sintiendo cierto tipo de sensibilidad con las temperaturas o alimentos dulces, en ocasiones incluso dolores con la presión.
Hasta este punto aun se puede restaurar la pieza para evitar llegar al tratamiento de endodoncia?
